Julia is the firm’s paralegal and an integral part of MVJ’s success.
Julia is a recent graduate of Wesleyan University where she earned concurrent degrees in Philosophy, and Science and Technology Studies, and focused her studies on ethics and the law. Prior to joining MVJ, Julia served as a Compliance Intern in Boston, where she gained hands-on experience with FINRA regulatory projects, providing practical knowledge in legal procedures. This experience, coupled with her coursework, has inspired Julia to pursue a career in law.
Outside of work, Julia enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading.
Alex is a founding partner of Maccini Voccio & Jordan, LLC, with 25 years of litigation experience.
Alex regularly defends Connecticut municipalities, boards of education, private corporations, and individual employees, in a myriad of employment related matters arising under both federal and state law, including claims of employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination.
Alex also defends public officials and boards of education against discrimination claims brought on the behalf of students pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as well as state law claims of bullying.
Alex handles matters pending before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in addition to her representation of clients in both state and federal court. She practices both at the trial court and appellate court levels. She has also represented clients before the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights and the Connecticut Department of Labor.
Kristan Maccini, a principal and founding member of the firm, regularly appears in state and federal courts throughout Connecticut representing law enforcement officers, boards of education, public officials, land use commissions, firefighters, emergency response personnel, and all other municipal employees.
She defends general and professional liability claims, including negligence, nuisance, highway defect, and civil rights claims, including claims brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, from inception of the lawsuit through to conclusion, having tried matters successfully, in both state and federal court. She is committed to obtaining the best results for her clients, often obtaining early dismissal through motion practice.
Beatrice is one of the founding members of Maccini Voccio & Jordan, LLC. Beatrice focuses her practice on public entity defense, including the representation of public officials, law enforcement, boards of education, planning and zoning commissions, emergency response personnel and other municipal employees in a broad spectrum of general liability, professional liability and civil rights claims.
She has over twenty years of experience defending claims involving civil rights violations, unreasonable use of force, false arrest, malicious prosecution, wrongful conviction, as well as claims of negligence, nuisance and highway defect. In addition, she has served as appellate counsel for numerous public entities and municipal employees before the Connecticut Appellate Court, Connecticut Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
